A Wednesday Night Out With School Buddies At A Local Watering Hole Leads To Hazardous Drinking And Symptoms Of An Alcohol Overdose

When Lois was in high school, she had obtained a reputation as a studious individual who rarely, if ever, had fun drinking with her classmates. She seemed passionate about excelling academically so that she would be able to secure a career that she not only liked but one that also gave her a degree of financial security.

After Lois finished high school, she applied to and was accepted into a leading program in philosophy. Her rationale for this decision was that this subject area would be a good springboard for law school and would not be identical to the majority of law school applicants who pick political science as their undergraduate major.

Lois was the kind of individual who worked thoroughly to finish what she started and then would take a rest when she could. As it turns out, nonetheless, virtually all of the things she did between terms or during her summer vacations did not have much to do with drinking. Clearly, Lois was anything but a party-girl. Now that her final examinations for her second year in law school were done and feeling proud of the fact that she had done very well on her tests, because of this, she wanted to let her hair down and do something enjoyable.

So Lois and some of her friends from school went to a local pub where they had a few glasses of wine. As the evening proceeded, Lois and her pals continued to drink. In truth, she was having such a fantastic time that she didn't want the night to come to an end.

After drinking around two hours when Lois started to slur her words, speak in a confused manner, and then fall unconscious, in spite of this, her buddies promptly knew that they needed to call that they needed to call 911, the emergency number, and ask for emergency assistance because they thought that Lois was exhibiting alcohol poisoning symptoms.

Lois was conscious of the fact that she had dodged a bullet and almost died from an alcohol overdose and, consequently, was grateful to be alive. At the same time, nonetheless, she was somewhat dejected knowing that she had almost passed away the night before. Her parents realized how hard she worked at the university and how little she let herself socialize with her friends. Nonetheless, they also realized that Lois needed to keep away from excessive and hazardous drinking.

As a consequence, they suggested that down the road, whenever a drinking opportunity arises, that she always drink responsibly. Lois was in agreement with this and promised her Mother and Father and her friends that she would never ever drink in an irresponsible manner. As stated by Lois, "I never thought that I might become one of the alcohol poisoning statistics in the local city newspaper. I now realize that abusive and unhealthy drinking is not the best for me. I give my word of honor that this will never happen again."

Fortunately, Lois was not only "school smart" but she also had. Stated another way, she quickly knew that she had made an error and decided that she would never make the same mistake again. Indeed, she now understood that she had involved herself in "binge drinking" and that even one instance of this form of careless and excessive drinking can end in a loss of life.
